WakaanFest 2019

From the get go I knew this would be one of my favorite events of the year. The lineup was absolutely stacked with artists I love and the venue was familiar being as Backwoods was also held at mulberry mountain. We arrived at a decent time and took a little over an hour or so to get through the security line to get in the venue. Searches varied drastically from them tearing everything out of your vehicle, to simply looking in your cooler to make sure you didn’t have glass.

Music was pretty much playing constantly with only a few hours between the sets ending early in the AM at the side stages and the sets starting back up on main stage mid day. The only complaint I have is that we were not allowed to go down to the waterfall, they had someone guarding the fence line the whole weekend and would not allow re entry. Seeing as the waterfall was one of my favorite aspects of mulberry mountain it really put a damper on my day.

On Sat evening during the main stage sets a summer storm that mulberry is so well known for came rolling over the hills. While there was some concern at first that music would be stopped, the storm stayed in the distance and just added to the visuals with lightning and sparkling drops falling from the sky as the storm moved past. Ended the fest with one of the best sets I have ever witnessed by the man Yheti at sunrise. Until next time fam!
